The Hexagon Summer Youth Project Final Show

Fantastic Mr. Fox represents the final performance of The Hexagon Summer Youth Project, a two-week course, which gives pupils, aged 8 – 18 years an on-stage and behind the scenes look at live theatre.

The final night is a not-to-be-missed performance of the musical ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, based on a children’s novel by Roald Dahl. It was adapted for the stage by leading children’s theatre creator David Wood and first performed at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry in 2001.

It’s an exciting tale of a fox who loses his tail, but not his head after attracting the attention of the greedy local farmers having stolen chickens, ducks and turkeys in order to feed his family. Dodging farmers, bulldozers and shotguns Mr Fox and his family get more than one over on their human tormenters in this fabulous family tale that was recently adapted for the big screen by director Wes Anderson.

Along the way, the foxes meet Badger and other digging animals who are also starving due to the farmers' siege of the hillside. Mr Fox, feeling responsible for the whole affair, invites the other animals to a feast on all the stolen loot… but will the farmers have the last laugh?

Find out in this fast, fun and fabulous tale championing Reading’s aspiring performing talent.
